While it does make sense that such a mod could affect performance eventually and my PC while new and solid isn't very powerful, I want to make sure that this is the natural limit of what my rig can run and that there's nothing more serious at fault here. I have an i5-10400, 16gb ram, ssd, all a few months old and my computer still behaves as if it's unburdened by the game, it's just the simulation that gets slow. The city has just 50k citizens, with only a couple tree assets in game overall (I only use up to 5 tree types in a map at a time) and 5 other beautification mods (node controller, move it and such). I have a save right before TMPE and a few after and have tried running them many times and it always ends up the same way.

If I do a bit of lane and arrow management on 4-5 intersections/roundabouts and add 2 traffic lights the game runs as in slow mode all the time. TMPE without ANY of its options enabled or any in-game editing done slows down game to about half the speed.
